The Chemical Pretreatment Laboratory serves as a supporting facility for the Elemental Analysis Laboratory and the Gas Stable Isotope Analysis Laboratory, where all pre-analysis preparation for elemental and isotope testing is carried out. The laboratory primarily focuses on the crushing and chemical pretreatment of rock samples. This includes iron species analysis, phosphorus fraction extraction in mudstones, carbonate-associated sulfate (CAS) extraction, carbonate-associated phosphate (CAP) extraction, carbonate-associated dissolved organic carbon (CADOC) extraction, and chemical pretreatment for C, N, S, and O stable isotopes.

Covering an area of 200 m2, the Chemical Pretreatment Laboratory is functionally divided into five specialized zones: Micro-drilling Room, High-temperature Oven Room, Iron Fraction Analysis Room, Phosphorus Fraction Analysis Room, and CAS Analysis Room. The laboratory is equipped with a comprehensive range of pretreatment instruments, such as jar mills, ultrapure water systems, ovens, muffle furnaces, and centrifuges. It is capable of meeting the pretreatment and analysis requirements for various rock and mineral samples, soils, and water samples across multiple research fields, including Earth Environment & Life Evolution, Mineral Resources, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, and Planetary Science.
